The End of the Beginning

Well, this is going to be my final blog post for IS101-3003, Spring 2026 course, and also the beginning of my official blog for the real world outside of college. I’m graduating on May 18, 2026, with an Associate of Business degree from CSN.

Learning IS101 course has been really great and highly relevant to my future success. It has helped me fill gaps in my digital literacy skills. As I mentioned before, I am currently looking for accounting or other business-related job opportunities. This course taught me a lot, thanks to Professor Wu and my classmates, we shared a lot of experiences especially during presentations and through our blog post discussions. I hope we will stay in touch through our blogs and other social media platforms.

Most importantly, this course helped me significantly improve my Microsoft Office skills, which are essential in many workplaces. I want to give special credit to Professor Wu for pushing us to grow and improve continuously by presenting real workplace scenarios and helping us strengthen our digital literacy.

For discussion 6, I chose 6.6.2: Object Formatting. When preparing slides, we can create and modify different shapes to make our presentations more expressive and visually appealing.

Here is the slideshow I created:

Finally, I wish all my classmates a very bright future and continued success. I hope to see you all again in the professional world after college.

  1. Hi Tegene, congratulations on graduating soon. One thing I noticed from IS101 is that the class quietly forces people to become more comfortable with technology whether they want to or not. At first it feels like just another computer course, then suddenly you realize you are making presentations, organizing files, troubleshooting problems, and thinking differently about digital work.

What stood out to me in your post was how you talked about the class helping you fill gaps in your digital literacy skills and making you more confident moving into the professional world. The presentations and blog discussions really did make the course feel more interactive because we had to explain ideas and communicate with other people instead of only clicking through LabSim tasks. I also like that you already connected these skills to accounting and future job opportunities because that makes the work feel more practical and not just another class requirement. Hopefully after graduation you get at least a little time to relax before the real world starts flooding you with passwords, spreadsheets, and “urgent” emails every 15 minutes.

  2. Hello Tegene. First off, congratulations on your graduation! I'm sure you'll be able to connect many things that you've learned from this class to your future in business. When I enrolled in this class I didn't expect to be learning about Microsoft Applications. Having the opportunity to get certified in them was definitely a nice surprise as well. I wish you the best for your future!
