The End of the Beginning

Well, this is going to be my final blog post for IS101-3003, Spring 2026 course, and also the beginning of my official blog for the real world outside of college. I’m graduating on May 18, 2026, with an Associate of Business degree from CSN.

Learning IS101 course has been really great and highly relevant to my future success. It has helped me fill gaps in my digital literacy skills. As I mentioned before, I am currently looking for accounting or other business-related job opportunities. This course taught me a lot, thanks to Professor Wu and my classmates, we shared a lot of experiences especially during presentations and through our blog post discussions. I hope we will stay in touch through our blogs and other social media platforms.

Most importantly, this course helped me significantly improve my Microsoft Office skills, which are essential in many workplaces. I want to give special credit to Professor Wu for pushing us to grow and improve continuously by presenting real workplace scenarios and helping us strengthen our digital literacy.

For discussion 6, I chose 6.6.2: Object Formatting. When preparing slides, we can create and modify different shapes to make our presentations more expressive and visually appealing.

Here is the slideshow I created:

Finally, I wish all my classmates a very bright future and continued success. I hope to see you all again in the professional world after college.

Basic Microsoft Skill

I believe phase one was a fundamental part of the IS101 class, as it encompassed the basic aspects of Microsoft Word document preparation. This phase introduced me to essential features such as the ribbon interface, which is somewhat similar to that of Microsoft Excel used in phase two. Overall, phase one provided a strong foundation that effectively prepared me for the next phase.

Completing the A6 Spreadsheet Analysis with Trailer was a highly practical assignment. It helped me understand the essential steps involved in creating an Excel document from scratch and formatting it into a professional spreadsheet printout. The task also emphasized very important basic formulas, which are crucial for everyday professional operations after graduation.

In phase two, the skills we learned were even more applicable to daily life, both in the workplace and beyond the IS101 class. I recognize the need to continue improving my proficiency in Microsoft applications and enhancing my digital skills in order to develop a stronger understanding of digital literacy.

Reflection – Phase 1

Phase 1 was eye-opening, very helpful, and interesting, especially for a beginner like me. I am still working on the LabSim projects and have not taken the MO-110 Word certification exam yet. I plan to continue using the same approach for the future phases as well.

For Discussion 4, Part 2, I chose 4.8.3 – Advanced Table Formatting. In this section, I learned how to convert text into a table and convert a table back into text. I also learned how to adjust spacing, such as spacing between cells.

Before this lesson, when I thought about tables, the first thing that came to my mind was Excel. However, now I realize that we can also create and format tables in Microsoft Word, which is very useful for organizing information within documents.

My First Impression of IS101

Hello everyone, welcome to my blog!

My name is Tegene Tessema, and this is my first ever blog post, required for IS101.

I am truly grateful for taking IS101 class because it helps scale up my skills and engagement across different web platforms. In Discussion 2 part 2, I choose 1.2.2, Web and Internet Facts, where I learned that the term internet typically refers to the vast collection of networking hardware and physical computing devices. Every computing device that accesses the internet is assigned a unique Internet Protocol (IP) address, which enables it to be identified on a network.

Overall, I am very excited to upgrade my digital skills and keep up with the current digital world.
