I believe phase one was a fundamental part of the IS101 class, as it encompassed the basic aspects of Microsoft Word document preparation. This phase introduced me to essential features such as the ribbon interface, which is somewhat similar to that of Microsoft Excel used in phase two. Overall, phase one provided a strong foundation that effectively prepared me for the next phase.
Completing the A6 Spreadsheet Analysis with Trailer was a highly practical assignment. It helped me understand the essential steps involved in creating an Excel document from scratch and formatting it into a professional spreadsheet printout. The task also emphasized very important basic formulas, which are crucial for everyday professional operations after graduation.
In phase two, the skills we learned were even more applicable to daily life, both in the workplace and beyond the IS101 class. I recognize the need to continue improving my proficiency in Microsoft applications and enhancing my digital skills in order to develop a stronger understanding of digital literacy.
Hi Tegene,
ReplyDeleteReading your post reminded me of the first time I tried to “just make a simple Excel sheet” for something at work, it turned into me staring at the screen for 20 minutes wondering why the numbers looked right but felt wrong. That A6 assignment really forces you into that same situation where you can’t just click around and hope it works, you actually have to slow down and think about what you’re doing.
I like how you pointed out the professional side of it, because those outputs aren’t just schoolwork, they’re basically what someone would hand to a manager and say “this is the data,” no room for guessing. Phase 1 really does feel like laying down the foundation, like learning how to hold the tools properly before being asked to build something real.
Going into Phase 2, it’s kind of scary but also interesting, because now it’s less about following steps and more about understanding why things work. Good luck with Excel, it feels more like logic than muscle memory, but once it clicks, it clicks.
I'm glad you found A6 Spreadsheet Analysis with Trailer to be a highly practical assignment :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, Phase 1 lays/bolsters a student's the foundation in digital literacy, Phase 2 challenges students the most, Phase 3 is where students materialize/flex their creative and independence spirits.
I see you continuing to improve your proficiency in Microsoft applications and enhancing your digital literacy skills, Tegene ^_^
I liked working on A6: Spreadsheet Analysis because it gave me more practice in using different features in Excel. Both that assignment and the lessons in CompTIA chapter 6 prepared me for the MOS-210 exam.
ReplyDeleteHi Tegene, I agree with you that phase 1 really set the foundation of the other phases. I actually found the Word Exam to be the most time consuming just because of me searching for certain buttons in the ribbon.
ReplyDeleteHi Tegene, the practicality of our assignments in IS101 is great because often we face the question of " When am I going to use this in the real world?" The activities and task that we have learned are so beneficial and the most important thing we can take out of this class is to utilize critical thinking. Not everything will be spelled out for us but using the knowledge and tools that we have obtained like for A7 we can figure a lot out by ourselves.
ReplyDeleteHello Tegene. There are some similarities in the interfaces of word and excel, you could potentially figure them out using a Venn diagram! Seeing the similarities was comforting sometimes. A6 was very mind opening and practical, I'm glad that it points out what's needed in a professional setting.
ReplyDeleteHey Tegene! Yes I agree, Phase I provided a strong foundation for the next phase, especially seeing how the exams work and how the grading works. The skills for Excel is definitely a very important thing to have in a lot of workplaces so I'm glad we finished and learn a lot. Congrats on graduating and finishing the semester!
ReplyDeleteDigital literacy is important especially in today's world where we interact with computers everyday. Hopefully your knowledge continues to grow and get even better outside of the classes. Phase 1 really set the foundation on what to expect in the next phases which is a good thing considering Phase 2 is such a difficult topic to learn, along with the A6.
ReplyDeleteHi Tegene, I agree that the A6 was very practical and helpful. I also like how you mentioned the importance of learning basic formulas since they are essential for everyday work in Excel.
